The Product Manager – Strategic Fiber Projects is accountable for achieving profitable growth of assigned product lines by applying fundamental product management tactics to increase sales and meet gross margin targets. Key activities include managing (developing, adapting and improving) the process to support strategic fiber projects, rationalizing and organizing product lines, analyzing and setting pricing using a channel-based approach, and advising on supply strategies including supporting third party assembly partnerships to address customer demand requirements. The product manager is responsible for developing long-term growth strategies for assigned product lines based upon research of market / technology trends, industry standards development, competitive activity, and gaps within Siemon’s product offering on global basis. The core responsibilities of this position include strategic and new product planning, participation in new product development, new product launch planning and leadership, product lifecycle management, and sales and internal support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (technical or related discipline preferred)
  • MBA or equivalent education or equivalent experience desired
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in product line management (or related discipline) in a business-to-business structure.
  • Excellent business judgement and decision-making capability
  • Experience managing commodity products especially as it relates to pricing, promotion, delivery, and cost reduction to maintain profitability.
  • Experience managing technical products and communications industry experience highly desired.
  • Experience with contract manufacturing partners and suppliers specific to fiber optic cable assembly and termination.
  • Experience developing strategic product plans. Highly skilled in market research and voice-of-customer collection.
  • Proven project management and analytical skills with a track record of delivering results in a timely, effective manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and function at a high level in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Strong writing skills with ability to prepare succinct, grammatically correct, written communications as well as to independently prepare professional, well researched, marketing communication materials.
  • Excellent presentational speaking skills with ability to create and deliver professional, effective presentations to large audiences
  • Experience with patent research and understanding of business aspects of IP
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Experience with ERP systems.
