Position Purpose:

The Account Manager for Smart Manufacturing & Industry 4.0 is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding strategic relationships, and positioning Siemon as the preferred physical layer partner across automation, robotics, industrial networking, and digital factory environments. This role focuses on developing and managing accounts within the Industry 4.0 ecosystem — including OEMs, system integrators, industrial distributors, and manufacturing end users.
The Account Manager combines commercial strategy with technical awareness, helping customers understand how Siemon’s industrial connectivity portfolio supports IIoT adoption, deterministic Ethernet, edge computing, and modernized plant floor architectures.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Ownership & Growth
• Own and grow a defined territory of automation OEMs, robotics manufacturers, system integrators, industrial distributors, and manufacturing end users.
• Develop account strategies that expand Siemon’s presence across production lines, controls systems, robotics cells, sensor networks, and industrial networking infrastructure.
• Identify new business opportunities within Industry 4.0 initiatives such as IIoT deployments, plant modernization, digital transformation, and OT/IT convergence.
Sales Execution & Pipeline Development
• Drive the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, solution positioning, quoting, closing, and post sale follow up.
• Build strong pipelines through proactive outreach, ecosystem networking, and collaboration with automation vendors and integrators.
• Develop proposals and BOMs in partnership with Sales Engineering and Product Management.
Industry 4.0 Ecosystem Engagement
• Build relationships across the smart manufacturing ecosystem — controls engineers, automation architects, plant managers, procurement teams, and digital transformation leaders.
• Engage with robotics, PLC, sensor, and industrial networking OEMs to position Siemon as the preferred physical layer partner.
• Support joint selling activities with ecosystem partners (Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, Banner, etc.) where physical layer alignment drives project success.
Technical & Application Awareness
• Understand how Siemon’s industrial connectivity products support real world applications: robotics, conveyors, machine vision, sensors, PLCs, industrial switches, and edge compute nodes.
• Communicate the value of ruggedized connectivity, high flex cabling, fiber backbones, and standards aligned industrial Ethernet.
• Work closely with Sales Engineers to ensure customers receive accurate technical guidance and application support.
Channel & Distributor Collaboration
• Strengthen relationships with industrial distributors and channel partners to ensure proper stocking, quoting, and promotion of Siemon’s industrial portfolio.
• Conduct joint customer visits, trainings, and product line reviews with distributor sales teams.
• Ensure distributor alignment with Siemon’s industrial strategy, pricing, and application requirements.
Market Intelligence & Feedback
• Track competitive activity, emerging technologies, and customer trends in smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0.
• Provide actionable feedback to Product Management and Marketing to support roadmap development and market positioning.
• Identify gaps in customer needs, ecosystem requirements, and standards alignment.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 2–5 years of experience in industrial sales, automation sales, controls/robotics sales, or technical B2B sales.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing environments, automation systems, or industrial networking.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to engineering, operations, and procurement stakeholders.
• Proven track record of territory management, account growth, and pipeline development.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites, integrators, distributors, and industry events.
Preferred:
• Experience selling into automation OEMs, robotics manufacturers, system integrators, or industrial distributors.
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies: IIoT, TSN, edge computing, digital twins, smart factory architectures.
• Understanding of industrial Ethernet, controls systems, PLCs, sensors, robotics, or structured cabling.
• Experience collaborating with standards bodies or ecosystem partners (ODVA, IEC, IEEE, TIA, PROFINET).
• Background in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or automation engineering (degree or hands on experience).
Educational Requirements:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.
• Equivalent industry experience (5+ years) may substitute for formal education.
Preferred:
• Technical coursework or certifications in automation, industrial networking, or controls systems.
• Sales training certifications (Miller Heiman, Sandler, etc.).
