Carrie Higbie has been involved in the computing and networking industries for nearly 30 years. Carrie currently works with The Siemon Company as the Global Director for Data Center Solutions and Services in support of end-users and active electronics manufacturers. Services include data center infrastructure design, audits, migration and cabling abatement planning to name a few.

Carrie has affiliations with and/or participates in the following organizations: IEEE, TIA, COMMON, ASHRAE, USGBC, WGBC, ISO, The Uptime Institute, and various consortiums for standards acceptance. Carrie is Siemon's liaison into the company's participation into the Cisco® Developer Program, APC's BladeReady™ Program and works with other electronics manufacturers and system integration companies.

She has extensive background in all aspects of networking and application development as a consultant, project manager, and Fortune 500 executive running data centers with multimillion dollar budgets, and has taught at a collegiate level. She speaks at industry events, end user education forums and various conferences globally.

Carrie is an expert in TechTarget's Searchnetworking, SearchEnterpriseVoice, SearchVoIP and SearchDataCenters forums and is on the board of advisors. She contributes articles to these forums as well as SearchMobile, SearchSecurity, SearchWireless and SearchCIO covering various topics. Topics include technology planning, business continuity, budgeting, personnel management, certifications and security to name a few. She has been placed in the top 5 technical tips on TechTarget for the last 2 years in multiple forums. Globally published, she also writes for Network Performance, ZeroDownTime, DataCenter Dynamics, and various other publications. Carrie has won the "Communication News" Editor's Choice Award for two years.

She is the former President of the BladeSystems Alliance and member of the Board of Directors. She participates in the IDC enterprise expert panel, Uptime Institute, numerous green building panels and groups, the Ethernet Alliance, PMI, Share and various other industry panels. She is an RCDD/NTS and has had 38 certifications in the industry throughout the years. She has one telecommunications patent and one patent pending.

Carrie works with end users, consultants and designers providing assistance with data center designs, network designs, technology planning and network audits. Her speaking engagements on these subjects include Networld +Interop, Data Center Dynamics, Data Center Decisions, Networking Decisions, SecureIT, AFCOM, 7x24Exchange, Emerging Technology Forums around the globe and various sponsored webcasts. Her data center design assistance has been utilized in the Financial, Government, Healthcare, Education and Industrial/Manufacturing sectors with assistance towards compliance related tasks. She has participated in the design of numerous data centers in all tier levels for both end user and hosted facilities.

Valerie Maguire, BSEE holds the position of Global Sales Engineer at Siemon. Her expertise is focused on balanced twisted-pair and optical fiber telecommunications cabling and transmission theory. She is TIA TR-42 appointed liaison to IEEE 802.3, Treasurer of the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Working Group, and Secretary of the IEEE 802.3 Maintenance Task Force and has held leadership positions in the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee and TIA-TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Subcommittee for eight two-year terms. In addition, Valerie has authored over 45 technical articles and engineering papers, holds one U.S. Patent, received the 2008 Harry J. Pfister Award for Excellence in Telecommunications, and was named one of CI&M’s Top 20 Positive Contributors to the Cabling and Networking Industry.

Starting his career at Siemon as an engineer in 1992, Mr. Carlson offers the unique perspective of past involvement in structured cabling from all facets of the industry. As Senior Engineer, he developed many new products and holds a number of patents. In the years hence, he has held leadership roles as Marketing Manager, National Sales Manager, and now as an officer of the company as the VP of Global Marketing, overseeing Product Marketing and Management, Engineering, Marketing Communications and Customer Support Services.

Mr. Siemon has been actively involved in the development of connection systems since 1982. His responsibilities include manufacturing, quality assurance and engineering. His standards activities include past positions as Chairman of the TIA TR42.1 subcommittee responsible for commercial premises cabling (authors of TIA-568-B.1 and Building Automation Systems Cabling standard TIA-862); Chairman of the US advisory group on international cabling standards (ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 25/WG 3; authors of ISO/IEC 11801); and Chairman for BICSI's Technical Information and Methods Committee. He is currently chairman of the US Advisory Group on Interconnection of Information Technology Equipment.
