POSITION PURPOSE:

 

The PLC Programmer & Motion Control Specialist supports machine development with the design, fabrication, integration and commissioning of automated assembly and packaging systems used by Siemon’s global operations. In addition to production equipment project management, this person also resolves programming, electrical, and software issues with existing automated and semiautomated production equipment. Production support also includes vision set-ups, adjustments and maintenance of PLC, motion control, and robot programs to consistently meet production, quality and safety standards. The position requires in-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical and software control aspects of specialized automation and robotics production equipment. Necessary strengths include project management, teamwork and innovation to develop and document new equipment and processes and to continuously improve legacy system quality, productivity, capacity and yield.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PLC Programming and Motion Control Certificate or Mechatronics or Electrical Degree or experience equivalent.
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 to enable smart reporting and diagnostics capabilities desired
  • Previous experience diagnosing and troubleshooting a wide range of automated equipment problems, including robots, PLC’s, pneumatics, electronics, sensor systems and vision systems.
  • Electrical panel or cabinet work experience. Electrical License desired.
  • Expertise in multi-axis robotic systems, 2D and 3D vision systems, transport systems, product marking and decoration, packaging and data collection systems.
  • Strong “hands-on” capability in the integration, installation and commissioning of automated/vision-based automated inspection systems in a production environment.
  • The ability to develop complete system documentation, including electrical schematics.
  • Expertise with electronics, PLC’s, HMI’s, VFD’s, Motion Control and programming and troubleshooting.
  • Ergonomics design experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of AC, DC, Steppers, Servos motors and Drives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent design skills (SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD).
  • Basic PC skills including MS Word, Excel and Oracle.
