Commodity Leader
Job Summary:
Overview: Commodity Leader is a strategic role responsible for the sourcing and procurement process by overseeing and maximizing the financial and operational value of a group of related commodities, products or services.

Job Summary: Effectively manage total spend and cost variance, keeping abreast of supply and demand shifts, relevant indices and emerging trends/technologies. Continuously evaluate supplier performance to drive down total delivered cost through contract negotiations, while ensuring consistently high quality, service and responsiveness to changing business requirements. Carries out assignments involving contract negotiation and purchase of critical or strategic items, effectively leveraging available expertise and resources from Suppliers, Engineers and Product Managers. Form strategic alliances with key suppliers through ongoing supplier performance assessment and feedback. Aggressively improve sourcing, by minimizing risk and driving waste and cost out of the supply chain. Proactively develop new regional and international suppliers as required to support evolving business needs and to minimize risk, such as single source on critical items and underperforming suppliers. Sustain existing suppliers that fully support Siemon's company goals of cost, quality, and delivery. Establish long-term strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned commodities.
Educational Requirements:
4-Year Degree
Required Skills:
Bachelor Degree in business administration, finance, supply chain or engineering major
Knowledge of copper and optical fiber telecommunications cables, connectors, PCB’s, sheet metal, stamping, finishing/plating and resins is preferred
3+ years purchasing, or technical commodity experience
Knowledge of supplier contracts and related terms and conditions
Skilled in supplier quotations, qualification and contract negotiation
Knowledge of ERP systems, lean manufacturing and ability to apply those principles as they relate to purchasing and inventory management practices
Ability to work well with all facets of operations including R&D, Accounting, Production, Quality, Admin, Planning, and Logistics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead project teams and manage cross-functional relationships.
Motivated, self-starter
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
