Siemon's Valerie Maguire Elected to Sixth Consecutive Term on the TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Systems Subcommittee
WATERTOWN, CT — Valerie Maguire, Global Sales Engineer for Siemon, has been elected as Vice Chair of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Systems Subcommittee. This election represents Maguire's sixth consecutive term in a leadership role on this subcommittee, which develops key standards for copper cabling systems.
Maguire previously served the maximum two terms as Chair of the subcommittee as well as holding the Vice Chair position for 3 terms, beginning in 2001. Maguire has actively participated in TIA standards formulation since 1995 and has served as document editor for multiple TIA Standards.
TIA TR-42.7 develops standards for balanced twisted-pair cabling systems and is the formulating group that authored the ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 Copper Cabling standard and is developing requirements for Next Generation twisted-pair cabling. The subcommittee specifies twisted-pair connecting hardware, patch cord, and cable requirements, including test procedures, performance limits, and test instrument parameters.
Valerie Maguire Bio:
Valerie Maguire, BSEE holds the position of Global Sales Engineer at Siemon. Her expertise is focused on balanced twisted-pair and optical fiber telecommunications cabling and transmission theory. She is Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee, Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Subcommittee, TIA TR-42 appointed liaison to IEEE 802.3, Treasurer of the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Working Group, Secretary of the IEEE 802.3 Maintenance Task Force, and clause 1 editor of pending IEEE Std 802.3-2012. In addition, Valerie has authored over 45 technical articles and engineering papers, holds one U.S. Patent, and received the 2008 Harry J. Pfister Award for Excellence in Telecommunications.
