Siemon's Valerie Maguire Appointed Treasurer of IEEE 802.3 Working Group
Maguire and other technical experts now providing updates on IEEE 802.3 and other network and structured cabling related Standards activity as part of Siemon's new online Standards resource
Watertown, CT — Valerie Maguire of Siemon was appointed Treasurer of the IEEE 802.3 CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) Working Group after elections were held during the Group's recent plenary meeting. IEEE 802.3 develops Ethernet operation standards for selected data rates of 1Mbps to 100Gbps transmitting over twisted-pair, optical fiber, and coaxial cabling. Maguire has been serving as the TIA TR-42 appointed liaison to IEEE 802.3 since 2003.
In addition to her efforts within IEEE 802.3, Maguire is the former 2-term Chair and current Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Subcommittee and current Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee.
Maguire also contributes her knowledge and expertise to a new online Standards resource at http://www.siemon.com/us/standards/. To help educate the market and keep network professionals abreast of important standards developments, Maguire and a global team of Siemon experts have created a Standards activity library. This publicly accessible tool covers a wide range of network infrastructure standards, such as multiple subcommittees and working groups related to:

Valerie Maguire Bio:
Valerie Maguire holds the position of Global Sales Engineer at The Siemon Company. Ms. Maguire received her B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Connecticut and actively participates in groups responsible for the development of telecommunications standards. Ms. Maguire's expertise is focused in the fields of balanced twisted-pair and optical fiber telecommunications cabling, connecting hardware, and cables. She is Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee, Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Subcommittee, TIA TR-42 appointed liaison to IEEE 802.3, and Treasurer of IEEE 802.3. In addition, Valerie has authored over 45 technical articles and engineering papers, holds one U.S. Patent, and received the 2008 Harry J. Pfister Award for Excellence in Telecommunications.
