Siemon's Valerie (Rybinski) Maguire Elected to Second Term as Chair of TIA Subcommittee

Watertown, CT — Valerie (Rybinski) Maguire, Global Sales Engineer for Siemon, has been elected to a second, 2-year term as Chair of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Systems Subcommittee. This election took place at the recent TIA TR-42 meeting in Palm Springs, CA.
Maguire has served as vice-chair of the subcommittee since 1999 and was first elected to the chair position in October, 2005. Maguire has actively participated in TIA standards formulation since 1993 and currently serves as document editor for several pending addenda to the TIA/EIA-568-B.2 Commercial Building Cabling Standard.
TIA TR-42.7 develops standards for balanced twisted-pair cabling systems and is the formulating group that authored the TIA/EIA-568-B.2 and TIA/EIA-568-B.2-1 (category 6) standards. The subcommittee specifies twisted-pair connecting hardware, patch cord, and cable requirements, including test procedures, performance limits, and test instrument parameters. The subcommittee is currently focused on the finalization of Augmented Category 6 performance requirements and developing the new TIA/EIA-568-C.2 (Balanced Twisted-Pair Cabling Components) Standard.

Valerie (Rybinski) Maguire - Bio:
Valerie (Rybinski) Maguire holds the position of Global Sales Engineer at The Siemon Company. Maguire received her B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Connecticut and actively participates in working groups responsible for the development and publication of telecommunications standards such TIA/EIA-568-B, TIA/EIA-568-B.2-1 (category 6), and pending TIA/EIA-568-B.2-10 (category 6A).
Maguire is the chair of the TIA TR-42.7 copper cabling sub-committee, TIA TR-42 appointed liaison to IEEE 802.3, and document editor for the '568-B.2-10 category 6A cabling Standard and the next edition '568-C.2 Standard. In addition, Maguire is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. She has authored over 45 technical articles and engineering papers and holds one U.S. Patent.
