Siemon Streamlines 10Gb/s Screened Cable Termination and Grounding Time
Easily terminated 10G 6A™ F/UTP MAX™ Modules meet or exceed all pending augmented category 6 channel requirements, including alien crosstalk parameters
WATERTOWN, CT — A new time study performed at Siemon Labs indicates that the screened augmented category 6 (category 6A) version of Siemon's popular MAX line of RJ45 style modular outlets/jacks significantly reduces termination time for F/UTP cable. During the study, which emulated real-world installation practices, actual termination times of less than three minutes were recorded. A timed video detailing the 10G 6A F/UTP MAX Module termination procedure is available online at: http://www.siemon.com/go/MAXvideo
The streamlined termination and grounding process is based on multiple time-saving features and configurations. The MAX's unique "tool-less" design eliminates the need for punch-down steps while maintaining augmented category 6 channel performance. All that is needed is standard channel locks and a cable preparation tool such as Siemon's Allprep™ tool. Once the jacket and foil are prepped, all 4 pairs are easily laced into an integrated termination/strain relief cap. The jack's outer body is then clamped over the cap, mass terminating all pairs and simultaneously ensuring shield continuity without the need for separate grounding steps. Used with Siemon TERA®-MAX patch panels, the modules self-ground when snapped into the panel.
"All Siemon products are designed with the installer in mind," says Tony Veatch, Siemon's Product Manager for its Screened/Shielded products. "Siemon has been successfully selling its screened and shielded products throughout Europe for several years and we are now seeing an upswing in demand for these products in the US and other UTP countries. The trend is driven by the excellent performance and value of screened cabling systems in comparison to new larger, premium priced 10G UTP cables."
Available in flat, angled and keystone versions, 10G 6A F/UTP MAX Modules terminate all screened and fully-shielded (S/FTP) cable constructions in 22-24 AWG (0.65 - 0.50mm) size conductors. They are compatible with both T568A and B wiring schemes.
Siemon's full 10G 6A F/UTP channel consists of the screened 10G 6A MAX outlet, a new smaller diameter Siemon F/UTP cable and TERA®-MAX patch panels as well as screened 10G 6A MC™ patch cords and the screened version of Siemon's innovative high-density BladePatch® patch cord. The system is supported by multiple work area faceplates and surface mount options in addition to a full suite of Siemon rack and cable management products. Like all Siemon solutions, the entire end-to-end 10G 6A F/UTP solution carries an inclusive 20-year system warranty when installed by a Siemon Certified Installer™.
The 10G 6A screened solution is a part of Siemon's comprehensive 10G ip™ line of 10Gb/s capable cabling systems. 10G ip includes end-to-end solutions in UTP, F/UTP, Category 7/Class F TERA® and fiber configurations.
