Siemon Named Family Business of the Year
Prestigious Award Recognized Siemon's Century-Long Commitment to Community, Customers, Suppliers and Employees

WATERTOWN, CT — Each year, the University of Connecticut Family Business Program pays tribute to the most successful family firms in the state of Connecticut in three separate categories: small-sized businesses, medium-sized businesses and large-sized businesses. The Siemon Company is proud to announce that it was chosen as the 2003 winner in the large business category.
Over 1500 companies competed for the award. Winners were chosen by a panel of judges comprised of industry experts, academicians and peers, and were evaluated on a number of different strengths:
- Business success
- Positive family and business linkage
- Multi-generational family involvement
- Dynamic contributions to community and industry
- Innovative business practices or strategies
"I cannot imagine a better way to celebrate and complete our centennial year," said Carl N. Siemon, President of The Siemon Company and senior member of the fourth generation of owner/operators. "We are fortunate to have an organization with so many talented and committed people both here in Connecticut and around the world. We also recognize and deeply appreciate the strong foundation built by the thousands of past Siemon employees since 1903. This is their award, and the Siemon family is honored to accept it on their behalf."
John Siemon, Vice President of Operations, added, "We are a family business, and intend to stay that way. It is fun working together side by side with my brothers Carl, Hank, and CK and my sister Cynthia, getting the company ready for the fifth generation."
