Siemon Sponsors Texas Students to Wire Orlando's Convention Center
WATERTOWN, CT — The Siemon Company, a global leader in the design and manufacture of network cabling systems and components, is showing their continued support for technology training programs being taught in today's schools by sponsoring students from the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center, Lubbock, TX, as they travel to Orlando's Orange County Convention Center to participate in the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Cabling Lab at this year's Tech Expo.
The Cabling Lab, sponsored by C-Tech and co-sponsored by Program Recognizers, features students demonstrating the skills learned in C-Tech's programs to wire the lab for communications networks with both copper and fiber optic cabling. The lab will represent both commercial and residential installations. The commercial side will consist of two Category 5e and two Fiber drops to each workstation. The residential side, featuring products from the Siemon Residential cabling product line, will consist of two Category 5e, two Coaxial and two Fiber drops to each "room."
Siemon has teamed with C-Tech as a Program Recognizer and is an avid supporter of the technology training that C-Tech is providing to second/post-secondary educational institutions, private training schools, US Job Corps Centers and other training facilities across the country.
"We are very excited about providing these students from Byron Martin with this wonderful opportunity to showcase the skills they learned while earning their Network Cabling Specialist certification," said Michael Clemens, Siemon's Global Manager of Marketing Communications. "The Cabling Lab is an innovative way of demonstrating the value of the training being taught in today's schools. When C-Tech presented us with the opportunity to support the students, the ACTE and our partner, we moved quickly. Students are not presented with opportunities like this very often and Siemon is excited about being an active participant in this event."
Ken Lowenstein, C-Tech's Director of Marketing, is working closely with the ACTE to ensure the success of the event. "As the sponsor of the Cabling Lab, we reached out and received support from our industry partners," explained Lowenstein. "We are grateful to Siemon not only for their financial support of the students, but for the equipment they have donated including their line of Residential cabling products."
