Siemon Offers White Paper On IP-Based Video Surveillance
WATERTOWN, CT - The Siemon Company, a global leader in the design and manufacture of network cabling systems and components, announces the availability of a new white paper on IP-based Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Video Surveillance systems.
CCTV and video surveillance systems are becoming commonplace in office buildings, external structures, schools and even on city streets. In addition, surveillance is becoming an integral component of access control methods augmented with biometrics, security tracking systems and access tracking systems. Historically, CCTV systems were designed for point-to-point transmission of video from a camera to a recorder, and required a separate infrastructure that employed coaxial cable. With the recent development of digital video, these systems can now operate over twisted pair and fiber optic cables, with image streams stored in a digital format on servers or other computers — as opposed to video tape. This new breed of video allows IP (Internet Protocol) transmission of the video signals in a combined voice/video stream that can be viewed in real time.
Siemon's white paper on IP-Based CCTV and Video Surveillance covers the principles and evolutions of these technologies, focusing on the latest digital IP video technologies, coupled with important information regarding infrastructure needs and demands for implementation.
Recognizing the important trend towards applications running over IP, and being a long-time leader in network cabling technologies, Siemon has recently published several white papers on these topics including this new paper on IP-Based CCTV/Video Surveillance. These papers offer great educational benefit to business owners, IT management, network designers and installers and can be downloaded today by visiting Siemon's website.
