The Siemon Company Expands Operations Globally
New Offices throughout Europe and Asia Pacific Underscore the Siemon Company's Commitment to Grow the Business Internationally
WATERTOWN, CT — The Siemon Company, a world-leading manufacturer of network cabling systems for the commercial enterprise, government and industrial markets, announced today its plans for global expansion and its progress in bringing that plan to fruition.
Established in 1903 and celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2003, Siemon's bold plans for global expansion coincide with the company's centennial year. Siemon has experienced tremendous growth over the past decade and has a rich history of providing innovative, high-tech copper and fiber cabling solutions to the market. With many industry firsts, including first to market with a fully compliant Category 6 product, the first commercially available and standards-approved class F/category 7 product and the first standards-recognized industrial Ethernet connectivity, Siemon has established itself as a global leader in the field of network cabling. To reinforce that leadership, the company has launched an expansive plan to further increase global operations.
"By 2006, analysts predict that the global structured cabling market will be approaching US $6 Billion," stated Carl N. Siemon, President and fourth generation Siemon to lead the company. "Nearly two-thirds of that spending will be outside the US. Our plans are to position ourselves to capture our share of this business. Siemon already offers a comprehensive array of cabling solutions to support the global market and with the new plans we are now implementing, we are able to locally support our enterprise customers around the world."
Siemon's technology goes beyond the products they produce. With over 500,000 square feet of highly automated, vertically integrated manufacturing capacity at its Watertown, Connecticut location, Siemon continually invests in the design and manufacturing technologies needed to build the technology of tomorrow. This commitment to excellence and meeting the needs of customers is the principle force behind Siemon's global expansion. With existing operations spread throughout the globe, including the US, Canada, Mexico, South America, UK, China, Australia, and Southeast Asia, Siemon expanded their presence in 2002 to Italy, Germany, France, India and Korea. A Japan office will open in 2003. This expansion is the first step in fueling the drive to be a true global enterprise. In an economic time when many companies are pulling in the reigns, Siemon is investing in its future.
"My great grandfather established this business in 1903, and over the past century the company has seen tremendous growth. It is with utmost confidence in our people, products and services that we now set our sights on global presence in the next century," Carl N. Siemon said. "We've already made tremendous headway and are on target to meet our goal."
Robert Carlson, Vice President of National Sales, concurred, "It is exciting that at a time when many US-based companies are reducing their global efforts, The Siemon Company has the confidence and strength to increase resources to these potential markets. We are looking forward to another decade of strong growth."
