Siemon's Daniel J. Mullin Appointed as Technical Advisor for IEC/SC 48B
Watertown, CT — Siemon , a world leader in structured cabling and connectivity, is pleased to announce that its Research & Development Laboratory Manager, Daniel J. Mullin, has been appointed as the U.S. Technical Advisor for IEC/SC 48B. The IEC (International Electrotecnical Commission) SC48B sub-committee is responsible for the standardization of electric connectors, connecting devices and mechanical structures for electronic and electrical equipment.
Mr. Mullin received his BSEE degree from Western New England College in 1985. He has been involved in research, development, and testing for over 17 years and has been R&D Lab Manager at Siemon since 1997. Dan has been an active member of SC48B since April 1999 and is presently a member of SC 48B WG3 (connectors) and WG5 (test methods), as well as the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC25 WG3 (customer premise cabling). He is also an American Society for Quality (ASQ) certified Reliability Engineer, and past member of the IEEE and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
In this new appointment as Technical Advisor, Dan will be the U.S. National Committees (USNC) representative to the IEC, ensuring that the positions of U.S. manufacturers and users are effectively represented. As part of his responsibilities, he will arrange for the distribuion of IEC documents, coordinate feedback for voting on SC48B standards, act as chief U.S. voting delegate, advocate the adoption of IEC standards by U.S. standards developers, and seek to promote harmony between U.S. and IEC standards. He will also be responsible for keeping all U.S. participants acquainted with the work and disposition of their recommendations, nominations, determinations, proposals and positions. Technical Advisors are appointed by the USNC Technical Management Committee for four-year renewable terms.
