Using Siemon’s TERA Connector and Cabling for 2 Lane Serial Data Transmission at 1 through 5Gbps per pair
This research from Siemon Labs takes a look at the use of TERA cable assemblies in digital applications. The test report highlights the performance of Siemon’s TERA connectors for serial data applications when used in combination with Category 7 cable and with twinax or twisted pair high speed cable.
Using a minimum eye height of 200mv and a maximum jitter of 0.25UI as the limiting criteria, the TERA connector is suitable for 2 lane serial data transmission at rates of 5Gbps per lane for Cat 7 cable lengths up to 2 meters and for twinax or twisted pair high speed cable up to 6 meters.
