FAQs for QSFP+
What does QSFP+ stand for?
Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable Plus. It is the second generation, 10-14G per lane version of this four lane interconnect type.
What is your standard turnaround time for delivery?
Siemon carries some stock on standard lengths (0.5M, 1M, 2M, 3M, 5M, and 7M). Other lengths are available in 4 weeks.
What gauges and lengths do you offer?
30 AWG, 28 AWG, 26 AWG and 24 AWG cables are available. Standard lengths are 0.5M, 1M, 2M, 3M, 5M, and 7M. Custom lengths are available upon request.
Do you offer custom EEPROM programming?
Yes, upon request. Cables with custom EEPROMs will be supplied under a different part number.
What product documentation do you offer?
Product specification sheets, customer use drawings, signal integrity reports and EEPROM content tables are available on our website.
Do these products support the 10G per lane data rate and for what standards?
Yes, up to 6 meters per current InfiniBand standards and IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-CR4.
Please note that the IBTA EWG subcommittee may be changing the Insertion Loss value from 14dB to 12dB which will limit their specified link length to 5 meters.
Do these products support 14/16G per lane data rate?
With a higher performing cable our pc board assembly should support 14/16G per lane data rate. We have plan on developing this product in the near future.
Please contact us if you have a need for these data rates.
Will these products support 25G per lane data rates?
Our current QSFP+ product will not support 25G per lane data rates. We are currently supporting the development of the QSFP 28 interconnect per the Ethernet 100GBASE-CR4 specification.
Are you a member of IBTA (Infiniband Trade Association)?
Yes and the SFF committee that develops the primary specification for these interconnect types. www.infinibandta.org
Are your products listed on IBTA’s integrators list?
Yes. See plug fest 17 integrators list.
Do you have design qualification test data?
Yes, mechanical and electrical test data is available upon request.
Do you offer production test data?
We can provide production test data for insertion loss and return loss, NEXT and FEXT upon request. Standard production testing includes insertion loss and return loss. All test data is stored by cable serial number.
What are the other key product attributes?
Due to our automated termination process our cable assemblies exhibit best in class impedance and cross talk performance
What cable jacket color is available?
Standard jacket color is black. Red, white and blue jackets are available on special order.
Do you have LSZH cable jacket available?
Yes, LSZH jacketed cable is available; however, initial lead time may be 14 weeks. A minimum order quantity may apply.
Where do you manufacture these cables?
Where are these cable assemblies used?
These are “point-to-point” cables that are used to directly connect two pieces of active equipment like SAN, LAN, vision systems and digital video signage. They are most commonly used in data centers for top of rack or middle of row installations.
