For Immediate Release Siemon Labs Research & Development Manager Receives IEC Leadership Appointment4-Year term as Technical Advisor (TA) to IEC Technical Committee 48 (IEC TC48) ![]() Daniel J. Mullin WATERTOWN, CT – Daniel J. Mullin, Manager of Siemon Research and Development Labs, has been appointed to a 4-year term as Technical Advisor (TA) to IEC Technical Committee 48 (IEC TC48). In his new role, Dan will be responsible for leading technical developmental work, drafting new and revised IEC standards, issuing standards for industry review, compiling ballot comments, and preparing documents for publication. IEC TC48 is tasked with the standardization of telecommunications and other electric connectors, connecting devices, and mechanical structures (mechanical housings for connectors, printed circuit boards, and backbone assemblies). SC48B (In 2002 Dan was appointed as Technical Advisor for IEC/SC48B as the U.S. National Committee’s representative), a subcommittee to TC48, currently has 15 project teams assigned to new work items addressing leading edge developments in the telecommunications connector industry. For example, Project Team 61076-3-106 is developing the standard for 8-way shielded and unshielded connectors for frequencies up to 600 MHz for industrial environments incorporating the IEC 60603-7 series interface (RJ45). Dan’s appointment recognizes the significant contribution that he has made to the IEC technical committee.
