Siemon Working with DuPont Fluoroproducts to Promote Higher Performing, Safer Cabling Systems

WATERTOWN, CT — The Siemon Company, a global leader in the design and manufacture of network cabling systems and components, announced today it is working with DuPont Fluoroproducts to promote high performing, limited combustible network cabling systems. In 2004, cable fire safety will be added to the Siemon Certified Installer^® Training Program and the Siemon Seminar Series.

“The Siemon Company is proud to add Limited Combustible cables made with DuPont™ Teflon^® from Belden and Mohawk to its list of qualified cables in The Siemon Cabling System,” said Robert Carlson, Vice President of Global Marketing for the Siemon Company. “Limited Combustible cables manufactured with DuPont™ Teflon^® provide the most advanced fire safety technology available for data communication cables. The result is higher performing category 5e and 6 cabling systems with better resistance to fire and lower smoke generation. This higher performance is directly attributed to the superior properties of the Teflon^® FEP used in the outer cable jacket as well as the conductor insulation.”

Fire safety testing revealed that traditional plenum and LSOH cables meeting minimum code requirements burned and emitted damaging smoke while Limited Combustible cables provided the best possible fire and smoke protection available.
