Siemon Announces Enhanced Fiber Termination System

Upgraded tools and components speed termination time and improve fiber transmission performance

Watertown, CT — The Siemon Company, a world-leader in the design and manufacture of network cabling solutions and components, announces the release of its enhanced Fiber Termination Kit, LC Upgrade Kit and Consumables Kit. Designed to rival connectors that use mechanical splice termination methods, the new Siemon fiber termination products provide quick connector termination, less scrap, and improved Insertion Loss and Return Loss performance.

Now, with the release of our new 10G ip™ solutions, the new termination kit will provide performance above and beyond the 10Gb Ethernet standards.”

Our new Fiber Termination Kit (FTERM-L2) is comprised of all the tools an installer needs to terminate SC and ST fiber connectors. New to the kit are a field-use microscope with 400x magnification and a universal adapter for SC/ST connectors; an enhanced crimp tool with ergonomic handle and 3-position die for LC, SC, and ST fiber; a Miller stripper for 900 micron (µm) buffer removal; and a double-sided sapphire-blade cleaving tool.

The Siemon LC Upgrade Kit (FTERM-LC), which allows installers to use the Fiber Termination Kit to terminate LC connectors, was enhanced with a 1.25mm LC adapter for the 400x microscope, a heat shrink torch, and an LC puck for polishing the fiber. At the heart of the system is the new LightSpeed® Consumables Kit (FT-CKIT-L2) which provides all the disposable items needed to perform up to 200 terminations of LC, SC, and ST fiber connectors, including LightSpeed® film, adhesive syringe, primer, syringe tips, wipes and alcohol pads. The consumables kit was enhanced with use of new LightSpeed® polishing films in 12-micron, 3-micron, 1-micron and finishing film, for the most robust fiber polish possible.
