A motorcycle "poker run" to benefit the Water-Oak Community Youth Center, Inc. will be held Sunday, July 6th, 2003 at the company's worldwide corporate headquarters. The Youth Center, established three years ago, is dedicated to fostering social development, character and community spirit in the 12-18 year old residents of Watertown and Oakville, CT. At the same time, in honor of the company's 100th anniversary, the town of Watertown, CT will be renaming the road that runs through the Siemon campus from Princeton Road to "Siemon Company Drive." "We are happy to be able to share The Siemon Company's success over the past one-hundred years with the children of Watertown," said Carl Siemon, President of The Siemon Company. "These children, and others like them are the future of the Siemon Company. They will be the next generation engineers, sales people and skilled craftsmen that will help lead Siemon and the world, to even better things in the next hundred years. Therefore it is with great pleasure that we announce that The Siemon Company will be contributing matching proceeds from this charity ride." Siemon's centennial coincides with the 100th birthday of another American legend, The Harley-Davidson Motor Company. The June 1st "100 Year Ride," however, is open to any and all bikes. Ticket prices are $15.00 for single riders and $25.00 for double riders. The charity ride will cover a pre-determined route through the picturesque Litchfield County hills. Beginning and ending at the company's headquarters, riders will stop at four checkpoints to draw a playing card. At the completion of the run, the top poker hands win prizes.
