Carl Siemon Addresses Tsinghua University at IT Conference in China

Watertown, CT — Carl N. Siemon, president of The Siemon Company, a leading manufacturer in the telecommunications cabling industry, was recently invited as guest speaker at an Information Technology conference at the Tsinghua University in China. The conference was sponsored by China Central Television and the Tsinghua University, the leading technological institute in China which is well known for its important contributions to the Chinese economic, government, and enterprise fields.

In addressing the over 400 conference attendees, Mr. Siemon was joined by Mr. Zheng Yankang, the Vice President of Tsinghua University, and Mr. Denny Barnes, Senior Commercial Officer of the U.S. Embassy. Siemon discussed the importance of Information Technology for the globalization of China, the developing trends in the telecommunications industry, and the key factors in The Siemon Company’s century-long success.

Mr. Siemon praised the major economic advancements China has made. “The current generation of leadership in China has created a free market economy, powered by open competition. This generation is also in the process of creating a great legacy of advanced infrastructure including modern transportation systems, energy generation systems, and an Information Technology network that is becoming the best in the world.”

“You are the future leaders of China,” continued Mr. Siemon. “You will represent many different professions, drive many changes, and realize many achievements. It is an honor to address you today, for you have a great responsibility — the globalization of China.”

The globalization in China can already be seen in its growing economic market, the joining in the World Trade Organization, and the selection of Beijing as the location for the 2008 Olympic Games. As part of this globalization, many international IT professionals will be needed — IT will be one of the highest demand professions in the future Chinese job market.

In addressing the developing trends in the telecommunications industry, Mr. Siemon explained, “These are historical times in telecommunications. The telecommunications industry is evolving so quickly that it is necessary to continually re-educate and re-invent yourself and your workforce.” He also explained, “That is one of the keys to the success of The Siemon Company — we encourage our employees to continue their education and build their skills.” The Siemon Company also awards many financial scholarships to local students, realizing that the future of Siemon depends on the talent of today’s students who will someday join the IT industry.

In concluding his speech, Mr. Siemon stated that China is a cornerstone in the foundation of The Siemon Company’s future. Siemon’s China office will continue to promote the TBIIC (Total Broadband Internet & Integrated Cabling) System, category 6 and fiber optical cabling solutions, the International Standards, and the Certified Installer training program.
